Unless your baby or baby of a couple you're gifting this item to is bigger than normal developed babies, than this bouncing/swinging chair is good for age 0-12 months and even more. A lot of it is plastic, but the main part is aluminum and there's iron mentioned in the description. Quite heavy and well made, but comes flat packed to a good extent when delivered and box is reasonable, so if like me you're gifting this item, then it is great.
